Rathsallagh is central to some of the most beautiful countryside in eastern Ireland yet Dublin is less than one hour's drive away.  The Wicklow National Park , Powerscourt , Blessington Lakes and the Wicklow gap is 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes drive. The Curragh Racecouse home of the Irish Derby, The Kildare Retail Shopping Outlet and The Irish National Stud is 20 minutes drive via Kilcullen Co Kildare.  Punchestown racecouse and Athy home of the National Ploughing Championships is 15 minutes drive.  Kilkenny Castle is an hour away and Cork and Waterford is a qucik 2 hour drive on the new motorways.

Christmas at Rathsallagh is a really special time. Winter has set in however our drawing rooms are warmed by log and turf fires and as you walk the grounds at dusk you can get the faint smell turf smoke in the air. When you arrive we deliver hot chocolate and the evening paper to your room, before dinner on Christmas Eve come and join the O’Flynn family and all the other guests for a Champagne and Mulled Wine reception. The Deering family from the village will come down and sing Christmas carols on the stairs. After dinner retire to the drawing rooms for board games, cards and maybe a little night cap. Christmas morning starts late with a champagne Bucks Fizz Brunch, walk the grounds play 9 holes of Golf (the course is exclusively yours that day), have afternoon tea and then dress for dinner in the evening. We have a late champagne brunch again On St. Stephens morning (Boxing Day) , after that why not go to Leopardstown for the races, or to the village and follow the local hunt, or just sit around and enjoy Rathsallagh with afternoon tea by the fire.
